Santa Claus Parade - November 30, 2024

Port Hope welcomed the Christmas season with the annual Candlelight Walk down Walton Street and along Queen Street to Memorial Park on the evening of Friday, November 29.  The walk was extra special this year because Walton Street was opened up for the evening after months of construction.

After people arrived at Memorial Park, there was a countdown to the tree lighting in the park.  People could explore the market stalls along Lent's Lane and all of the stores and restaurants on Walton Street.  Several Rotarians including Olga, Jana, Drina and Steve manned a warming centre at the Knights of Columbus Hall handing out hot chocolate and promoting our Holiday Market sales items.

On Saturday, November 30 a large group of Rotarians and friends gathered at the storage shed near Epic Gym to put together the Santa Claus Float on a large flat bed truck from the RentAll Centre.

Then, snow was loaded onto the trailer at the back of the Jack Burger Sports Complex.

The annual Santa Claus Parade started at 1:00 p.m. at Ridout Street and Bramley Street and made its way downtown to Memorial Park.  There were many floats an several bands for the spectators to enjoy with Santa calling out "Merry Christmas" form his sleigh on the Rotary float at the end of the parade.

Thank you to Bruce Coleman for organizing the Rotarian volunteers again this year!
