Good morning, Robert.
Weekly message to D7070 AGs, Rotary and Rotaract Club Presidents & Club Secretaries from DG Iosif Ciosa.
Please forward to your members!
Welcome to the second week of May!
Message from RI General Secretary John Hewko:
Leaders from Rotary District 2232 in Ukraine recently raised concerns about the Rotary Club of Kyiv International’s use of disaster response funds. I want to assure you that we take the stewardship of Rotary’s funds extremely seriously. The Rotary Foundation has a system in place to ensure that all funds are being used appropriately and according to their original intent.
As a result of the district bringing this to our attention, we are conducting an extensive review of the Rotary Club of Kyiv International’s use of funds intended to support a humanitarian response for people affected by the war in Ukraine. Until this review is complete, the Rotary Foundation will not approve or fund grants involving the Rotary Club of Kyiv International. We also strongly suggest that clubs and districts refrain from sending funds to the Rotary Club of Kyiv International at this time. Please share this message with any club that has sent or is considering sending funds/items into Ukraine.
We will provide additional information after the review is complete. This will take us some time due to the ongoing situation in Ukraine. In the meantime, you can direct questions to
stewardshipdepartment@rotary.org.
Sincerely,
John Hewko
Rotary International General Secretary

Rotary Club of Picton Offers the Opportunity to Honour Mothers in Ukraine.
Ukraine observes Mothers’ Day on May 14th as does Canada.
Our Donations Appeal is available on our Rotary website from now through May 31st.
Instead of your traditional Mother’s Day commemorations, family members are given this opportunity to direct your donation to honour mothers in Ukraine. Please talk this over with your family and consider this opportunity.
At the end of May all donations will be directed to the Rotary Club of Kyiv for the bombed Buzova School 20 km east of Kyiv where reconstruction is already underway due to support from Rotary Clubs around the world including the Rotary Club of Picton.
Your Mother’s Day donations will honour all the Ukraine mothers agonizing over their sons and daughters in danger fighting for their country’s sovereignty and Ukraine mothers struggling to feed their children or comfort their fears.
Visit www.pictonrotary.ca to demonstrate your support for the Mothers in Ukraine, or follow the link to make a donation: Buzova School
Have a great week!
Cheers,
DG Iosif
